PROGRAMMERS RETURNS
I have abandoned the idea of ordering programs this month as this is
taking up too much time. Instead I have just spooled the comments
received as they were on the discs sent to me. Consiquently you will
have to scan the whole of Programmers Return to be sure you have all
the comments on your particular program.
L1J: ADFS STRING SEARCH
A very good idea for hard discs, although less useful for floppies.
One of its problems is that after completing the search it simply
stops. It might perhaps be more useful to give options to either
stop or do another search after the first one. It would also be a
good idea to include an option that would move youto the directory
containing the string and give you a catalog and then stop there.
I personally would prefer it in MODE 128 but I suppose few programmers
will agree with that.
K1P: FIVE-A-SIDE SOCCER
Liked this, although I think a couple of things need changing. How
about a limit on the number of Pot Luck questions that can be asked
between the matches? At the moment you can just keep using this
option as much as you like. What exactly is the point of money? You
seem to just build it up but never have to buy anything! The players
names need to have a maximum length. If too long they corrupt the
skill/energy page and so you can't tell what their attributes are!
Finally, the program often crashes if you return to the menu then try
to continue playing a match. It only seems to happen after a team has
played its matches and you return to the menu before the league has
been displayed.
6JE: SHARES ACCOUNTANT and ADDRESS BOOK
Both these programs are excellently programmed and I find it hard to
fault them, but one small moan is about the redefined fonts. Although
they look good, are they REALLY neccessary?. On the Shares Accountant
main menu the mix of colours for some of the double height characters
make it hard to read on a blue background.
