NEW TBI ARRANGEMENTS
The TBI section is now split up into a number of different areas. Each
disk has its own special code. Please note that to order TBI software you
must:
(i) Enclose enough extra disks for the software you want
(ii) Enclose an ADDITIONAL 10p for each disk you want copied
(iii) Send enough return P&P to get the whole lot back to you.
Note that if an item is listed as "DFS 80T SS" and you are using an 80T DS
drive, you can order another DFS 80T SS item on the other side of the same
disk.
Unless you send a SECOND set of postage and packing, as well as the disk
and P&P for the next issue, to return your TBI order in, I will send it
whenever the next issue disk is completed.
THE GLM PD SECTION
See GLM PD catalogue for additional details on these disks.
GLM-01 Sound Disk 6 (S06) DFS 80T SS
GLM-02 Arcade Games 3 (A03) DFS 80T SS
GLM-03 Forth Compiler (L03) DFS 80T SS
GLM-04 Miscellaneous 2 (R02) DFS 80T SS
GLM-05 Graphics 2 (G02) DFS 80T DS
GLM-06 Sound Disk 12 (S12) DFS 80T DS
THE YORKSHIRE BOYS SECTION
The Yorkshire Boys' software became famous because of (among other
things), the quality of its presentation, the humorous nature of much of
it, and the amount produced (virtually every disk was almost a full 400K).
If you are easily offended then DO NOT order TYB-01, TYB-05, or TYB-06.
I would like to hear from anyone who has any more Yorkshire Boys
productions, or who can throw any more light on the question of hardware
requirements for each disk.
TYB-01 Mixmania
TYB-02 Samples Disk 01
TYB-03 Samples Disk 02
TYB-04 Samples Disk 03
TYB-05 Mixmania II Vol.1
TYB-06 Mixmania II Vol.2
TYB-07 Retribution Demo Demo
All these disks require DFS 80T DS and will not run on any other format.
Mixmania contains a number of "mixes" of sampled sound, a menu with (very
long) scrolltext, and graphical screens for each mix. Some of the mixes
should run without sideways RAM, but most of them require at least one 16K
bank - all of them run fine on my Master, but were originally written on
and for the BBC B.
Mixmania II Vols. 1/2 are in much the same style, although the scrolltexts
become increasingly incoherent, which is more than made up for by the
presence of a large frog/troll/something-or-other. They run OK on my
Master, and presumably on the BBC B as well, though most (?) of the mixes
require one 16K SRAM bank.
The samples disks each contain a selection of short sound samples (mostly
musical), which can be loaded in and played, speeded up and slowed down,
and stuttered by the menu program supplied. The results can be quite
amusing. I think these will run on both B and Master, and they don't
require any SRAM. There are no scrolltexts and no graphics of any real
importance.
The Retribution Demo Demo contains a mixture of music, scrolltexts and
graphics in a totally different style (including a vast slide-show of all
the MODE 7 screens they have ever done, and a furry creature that bounces
up and down). I am not at all sure about compatibility for this one, but
it runs OK on my Master.
THE CATALOGUE DISK
This will contain the latest updates of the disk-based catalogues from BBC
PD and GLM PD, plus any other PD libraries which I can get a disk-based
catalogue off (possibly Mad Rabbit PD and Purple Domain PD). Its code is
CAT-1.
THE OLD TBI DISKS
These will hopefully have arrived from Duncan Webster within a week or so.
They are as follows (all DFS 80T DS):
TBI-01 John Lyons Religious Software - Fidei Defensor
TBI-03 Small C compiler and notes - 2 DISCS REQUIRED
(despite what everyone says, it's a lot easier than
writing in assembly language, and a lot faster, and
supposedly more structured, than BASIC!)
TBI-04 6502 Macro Assembler & Manual
(also supports 65C02 commands if you have a Master)
TBI-05 Maths Educational Software - Primary Education
TBI-06 TAS BASIC Animation Sequences
TBI-07 Chris Richardson Cheats and Utils - REQUIRES 2 DISCS
TBI-10 John Lyons Nutritional Software Demo Disc
TBI-13 C. Ince Digitised Pictures - REQUIRES 3 DISCS
THE XBI SECTION
XBI stands for "Xtra Big for Issue", and this section consists of software
for ADFS L users (i.e. ADFS 80T DS). This really is a very cheap way of
getting PD software - the smallest of the XBI disks contains just over
400K, and most of them contain over 550K.
The details of the disks from BBC PD, indicated by their catalogue numbers
below, will be found in the BBC PD catalogue, available from the software
menu - I suggest you look through it and work out what you want. Bear in
mind that if you order XBI 04 through 12, you will be getting (for 90p +
disks + return postage & packing) what would originally have cost over
#30.00 if ordered from BBC PD. [ Note : one XBI disk has been temporarily
removed. ]
Note : Alan Blundell has asked me to insert disclaimers for any of the BBC
PD disks which I have, or will, alter in any way. I have removed XBI-06
because it is missing several files which I lost - hopefully I will get
around to obtaining a new copy very shortly. I have altered BBC PD disk 6
to make it compatible with ADFS, but this is not included anyway (yet).
Finally, I have replaced the machine code header programs on two of the
disks, which displayed an instructions file, with a simple !BOOT file
which displays the same instructions file. If anyone finds anything else
which is out of place, please let me know.
If you particularly want any software which is listed as "unavailable", I
suggest you order it anyway, as I will probably have got around to sorting
it out by the time I distribute issue 21.
XBI-01 Mad Rabbit PD's MR-17 - Big Disk of BASIC Music
-about 110 tunes, well over 600K of music
XBI-02 NOT YET AVAILABLE - will hopefully be MR-18, another 110 tunes
XBI-03 Massive US shareware C tutorial (BBC PD 48) + X-TEL, a MODE 7
system (screen designer etc.) originally from Red Shift PD
XBI-04 BBC PD 70, 92, 107
XBI-05 BBC PD 7, 39, 94
XBI-06 BBC PD 12, 55, 83 - NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE
XBI-07 BBC PD 38, 71, 105
XBI-08 BBC PD 49, 96
XBI-09 BBC PD 108, 109
XBI-10 BBC PD 29, 47, 62, 101
XBI-11 BBC PD 2, 33, 106
XBI-12 BBC PD 18, 54, 110
If you order any of XBI-04 to XBI-12, you will have to use DIRCOPY or any
other similar program to copy each BBC PD catalogue item from its separate
directory on the disk into the $ directory of another ADFS disk in order
to use the BBC PD menus. For example, the $ directory of XBI-08 contains
two directories, $.49 and $.96. $.49 contains everything from BBC PD disk
49 and $.96 contains everything from BBC PD disk 96.
