Edited by C.J.Richardson.
Submissions have been so huge this time
that I have decided to make this a one
off double disc issue for DFS users.
ADFS users will find that everything is
on the one disc, so don't panic! If you
have't got disc 1, send a DFS formatted
disc with return postage and ask for
8BS-46-1. All the messages and articles
are on disc 1. Apart from that, I have
tried to keep a varied content on each
disc, and each disc is totally
independent of the other.
The article you are reading now.
Info for programs that do not contain
their own documentation.
J.G.Harston has written this file
indexer. Keep a track of all of your
programs easily. The suite of programs
is archived on this issue.
The last analysis of this particular
questionnaire as the new questionnaire
is included on this disc.
Taken from the very last analysis of
the outgoing questionnaire.
The new questionnaire is included on
this disc. Please fill it in if you
want. The info is exactly the same as
for previous questionnaires, the only
changes are minor ones to the questions
themselves.
Sorted by name, and ID. Taken on the
22nd November 1995. The list gives ID,
name and city and/or county.

Please read the documentation available
from the magazine menu. This new
questionnaire has fewer questions than
the previous questionnaire. If you wish
to let me know more about yourself,
please send a letter or disc based text
file.
The old questionnaire data you sent me
is now put away safely, please could
all members make an effort to send in a
newly completed questionnaire.

Use: De-Archive File Indexer.
Program name: Arch`De
Language: BASIC
Info in the Program Documentation
Article. Use this program to make a lot
of small files into one big one.
Extract individual files from the
archive. I have included this archiver
on this issue to de-archive the File
Indexer by J.G.Harston.

Use: Keep a track of your programs
Archive name: IndArch
Language: Machine Code+Basic
Full info is available in the magazine
menu, "File Indexer Info". The suite of
programs is in an archive (see
Arch`De). You will need to set up a
disc for the database, so don't try to
run it from this issue!
Here is a quick guide to get you going:
Copy the Archive IndArch onto a blank
disc. Load the De-archiver Arch`De.
Insert the disc with IndArch. Type RUN.
Select option 2. Then type IndArch.
Then select option 1. Escape from the
archiver. Type *OPT 4 3, press <RETURN>
CHAIN"EmptyDB". That's it.

*BUILD !Boot and press <RETURN>.
Then type CHAIN"MPGmenu" and press

Program name: 8BSMEM1 8BSMEM2
Data: 8BSTOR1 8BSTOR2
Language: BASIC+DATA
Info in the Program Documentation
Article. Last issue, K7T asked about
the DATA pointer. He found the answer.
Here is his experiment. The programs
write data to disc, so the disc must
not be write protected.

Program name: Table Setup Data
Language: BASIC+DATA
Zul has written this program to store
up to 24 high scores. The program
'Setup' will allow you to reconfigure
the data file 'Data' to your own games.
The program 'Table' is fairly self
explanatory, enter the new high score
for the chosen game. The heading 'High
Scores' at the top of the screen does
not show on a BBC.

Peter has had a go at writing a better
way of answering the puzzle I posed in
8BS-45. Here it is. His info is in the
'Late Addition' article.

This game has appeared under various
names on various computers.
It was featured on an early 8BS issue
and can also be found on the ADFS
version of TBI-00. I am including it on
this issue because Janny Looyenga has
sent a solution which is on disc one of
this issue. It would seem a shame for
you to have the solution but not the
game itself.
