Subject: PRESS SPACE
It's a good idea to use PRESS SPACE
instead of PRESS BREAK. With PRESS
BREAK I had always the feeling to
leave the program but using PRESS
SPACE it feels like part of the
program. Besides that there are more
possibilities to use PRESS SPACE now!

Thanks Chris for a smashing issue,
the biggie as you called it.
The history of the 8-BIT was very
interesting. Also the LOTTERY program
was very detailed and well presented.
The change in the menu so that we use
the space bar is a good idea. It seems
more 'natural'.

Subject: JUST A REFLECTION!
It is a fact that over fifty
different books have been published
all about WINDOWS 95. (Maybe sixty
by the time you read this!)
Does this mean that it is very hard
to use and you need these? Or.......
Is it so simple that it is easy to
write a book about it?
By the way:- If you have seen W95
and thought it looked like ACORN's
DESKTOP'windows'you are not alone.
The TELEGRAPH (24th Aug) stated.....
......'most people can't explain what
it (W95) is or does, and those who
can regard it as inferior to what has
been available for years from rivals
such as APPLE and ACORN.'
Now perhaps that is why they need so
many books!

Subject: Using Teletext MODE 7.
Thanks to Brian Raw and Chris the
80's can be changed to 40's (3TO7)
by a flick of a 4 key.
I have a not-so-good monitor so the
teletext mode suits me fine. Also I
like the pretty colours and pictures
but not too much flashing please, ta.
Subject: Push the Bale solution.
L1M put forward a handy program to
show us that the bales can all be put
in the right place after all. Carl W.
has changed this (PtheB) and at least
another of his programs to work on
the ARCHY. They are in the PD.
Subject: M25 prog.
Jon Ripley had me fooled with this
at first. I thought the April issue
had arrived already.
Subject: This young man JON RIPLEY
May I thank JON(D5B) for all his
contributions in the last issue.
Programs, puzzles, offers to help and
even a love story etc. With such a
positive attitude you should go far.
Here is a puzzle that you can solve
for me JON. You state that there is a
problem having a high IQ. I always
thought that it was us with a low IQ
who had problems. What is this
problem? I am beginning to be thankful
that my IQ is not high!
Subject: Improving program
presentation.
Our Ed. said that constructive
criticism is more welcome than praise.
So I don't want any "If you can do
better why don't you do it?" so there.
So here we go. We have, over the
years, had some very good programmes
written by or put forward by
members but lack that little extra
finest. How about a nice first screen
with your name (if you wish) and a
little idea what it does. Also most
important, instructions, and how to
QUIT gracefully. Then the command
'press space' or 'press a key' to go
into the main program. The program
documentation section of the 8-BIT
disc is very handy and helpful. Please
continue to use it. But I and maybe
others forget what keys to bash when
we use the program. Oh dear, am I
showing my dodgy IQ up again!
BLAM!
