Before Easter Rik Page was asking
about the ATPL board he has.
Well,ADFS can be fitted to any BBC
machine,including BBC B,Electron,and
of course the Master series. The BBC
will however need to have had the
normal 8271 disk controller swapped
for a 1770 board.See my forsale list
for details of how to get one.The ADFS
ROM will sit happily in any of the
board's ROM sockets,though lower
socket numbers are better.
RAM can be added to ATPL boards, they
sit in the two sockets nearest to the
keyboard connector.They too are
available as spares from me for £4.40
each.
As regards fitting your BBC with 3.5"
drives then this is no problem. As far
as the computer is concerned it
doesn't know what shape the drive is
which it is connected to.Hence no
special formatter is needed.3.5" drive
fitting info is given on the reference
section of my webpages:
www.york.ac.uk/÷rps102/bbc/bbc.htm
or can be obtained by sending two
stamps and your name to my postal
address.
Glad to be of help,

Subject: Digitiser
Lorna Jenne was having problems with
annoying stripes appearing on the
output of her WE digitiser.
Without seeing the unit,if the lines
are vertical and happen no matter
what the video source is then it
sounds like one of the lines is stuck
on the user port.
This could be caused by several
things:
1.User port has dry solder joint
2.User VIA (6522) has died
3.Broken lead in the cable
4.Dry solder joint in the digitiser
5.Fault with a logic chip in the
digitiser (though it is unlikely
that just one line would go)
If,however,the lines are horizontal
then I haven't got a clue.
